Love: WSPD Style
Recently, WSPD facebook fan Elaissa Trybus emailed us the engagement photos she and her fiance George Hardy took at the WSPD. Elaissa lives off of Howell Mill and rode her bike past the WSPD every day en route to graduate school at Tech. After Elaissa and Greg got engaged, it seemed natural to grab a stick of chalk, scribble their “save the date” on our bridge and catch the Midtown skyline in the backdrop for their engagement photos. We love that! If you’ve got a WSPD love story, we’d be totally tickled to hear about it.
One little-known thing about the WSPD is that several couples have chosen to hold their weddings on our grounds. JCT Kitchen has organized several of these these lovely low-key affairs. Interim event manager Loren Hagearty says, “We work one on one with the bride and groom to meet their needs, and we use food and beverage minimums instead of rental fees.” JCT hosts 5-6 weddings per year. Dates are generally limited to Sundays in order to minimize impact on our retail tenants and to maximize privacy for the happy couples. Vows can be exchanged in the outdoor lower-level courtyard at Westside Urban Market with receptions in the upstairs bar or JCT’s downstairs main dining room. JCT can accommodate seated dinners or lunches for up to 150 guests and cocktail parties for up to 250 guests. If you’re interested in finding out more about JCT’s wedding planning services, please contact manager Don Hart at 404-355-2252. In the meantime, feast your eyes on these awesome photos from the Grant wedding at WSPD.
