I was looking for fodder to post for Valentines Day when this post to the Chowhound forums sparked a mouth-watering about-face. I was immediately transported back to my first experience with JCT’s Angry Mussels: Spicy, buttery, mussel-y and served with yummy crusty bread for soaking up all that spicy sauce. I know I’m not the only one obsessed with this dish. It was featured on the Food Network show The Best Thing I Ever Ate (episode: “With Bacon”).

Alas, Angry Mussels aren’t on JCT’s prix fixe Valentine’s Menu, but I’m sure you’ll pardon my digression. After all, deliciousness is never off-topic! As for JCT’s Valentines menu, there’s definitely no shortage of deliciousness there. Start off with a blue crab beignet taster; then choose your starter (pan roasted fois gras? GA white shrimp bisque?), main course (pan roasted dayboat scallops?) and dessert (red velvet doughnuts!) for only $55 per person!

And if you can’t get those angry mussels off your mind, the blogger who writes Freestyle Cooking saw chef Ford Fry cook them on the Food Network and posted her adaptation of the recipe. So get cooking! Or better yet, order them to take home!

Perrine’s Wine Shop will be closed Monday, January 30 while Perrine moves into her new space. Perrine’s Wine is nudging a few feet over, closer to Yeah! Burger, to make room for lululemon, which is opening this coming Summer!

In other exciting Perrine’s news beginning February 5, Perrine’s will be open on Sundays from 12:30pm – 6pm. Drop by and stock up!
